Wisdom vs Jesus

"Then they will call on me (wisdom) but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently but they will not find me." (Proverbs 1:28)

During yesterday's Sunday message, we learned that if we only want God as an addition to our lives, someone to give us wise principles for living, then all we'll end up with is wisdom...and wisdom itself is good, but in reality, she has no mercy. In other words, principles can only get you so far, but they can't save you or set you free from the bondage of sin. Jesus, on the other hand, is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in love. If we call upon Him in our time of need and fall at his feet in complete surrender, we will always find mercy and the grace to carry on. Let us give Jesus our everything and receive the fullness of His love, not settle for lady wisdom who will turn her back and mock us when we need her the most.

Seeing Jesus in Everything

"Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." (James 1:2-3)

How is it possible to "consider it all joy" in the midst of heartache, pain, discouragement and uncertainty? On our own, this is literally impossible. But the comforting truth is that we are not alone...ever, and He can do what we cannot. In the midst of the trauma and chaos of a sudden diagnosis of aggressive cancer this week, our beloved sister Kim and her husband Peter are turning their eyes upon Jesus and receiving all they need. Praise the Lord, for His lovingkindness is everlasting!

To join Kim and Peter on their cancer journey with the Lord and to support them in prayer, you can follow their blog at: www.seeingjesusineverything.blogspot.com.

The Lord bless you this week as you also turn your eyes upon Jesus.

Dear Rock Family,

Please don't forget to turn your clocks back one hour before you sleep on Saturday night. Our Sunday morning service will begin at 11:10 a.m. according to the new time. This will give you one extra hour to catch up on some rest and prayer.

The Gathering: Women's Prayer Fellowship - Friday October 28, 2011 at 8pm

"Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much." (James 5:16)

One boy's lunch was only enough to feed himself and maybe a couple of friends, but when placed in the hands of the Lord, could feed thousands of hungry souls. Let us turn our focus away from our lack and insufficiency to Jesus' limitless power to comfort the hurting, heal the sick, and bring life from death. That which is too much for you is not too much for Him. Join us in his throne room of grace this coming Friday October 28 at 8pm to seek His face and lay our requests at his feet.

The prosperity gospel

Hello brothers and sisters,

The prosperity gospel is spreading like poison throughout all of Christendom, and even into our own homes, thoughts, and worldview in subtle ways. Watch the following videos in this order. May we be counted among those who praise Him, even in the darkest of times. The Lord bless you,

Eugene Chang

Greg Laurie lost his son on July 24, 2008 in a tragic car crash. In the eyes of the world it's a tragedy but in the eternal eyes of God and those that love Him, an opportunity to partake in God's grace and His mercy.

In My Seat - A Pilot's testimony from September 11

Dear Friends,

On this 10th anniversary of 9/11, Steve Schreibner, the pilot who was supposed to be flying the first plane to hit the World Trade Centre, shares his testimony of how the events of that day impacted his life. May his testimony minister to you as we all remember that we are living on borrowed time.

God bless you,
