"As for you, the anointing which you received from Him abides in you, and you have no need for anyone to teach you; but as His anointing teaches you about all things, and is true and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you abide in Him." (1 John 2:27)One great temptation that exists when gifted with an inspiring teacher and strong spiritual role model is spiritual "piggybacking"...relying so heavily on your leader's spiritual insights to inspire you, that you stop seeking to hear and relate to the Lord on your own two feet. While a pastor's insights into the Word help us to draw nearer to the Lord, they are never meant to replace a personal relationship between you and God where you can hear from Him directly and personally.
We, the flock, also have God's anointing on our lives. Rather than seeking week after week to be inspired, let us seek to be the inspirers for others.
